Mission Statement

this is our mission statement from me, Aleena, from Nebula System

this project is designed to be a personal telling of disorders, how they work from the perspective of the people who have said disorders. we aim to tell people who come here how they work, how they feel, what they affect, how they affect us, how people who don't have them should treat people who have these disorders, how to help, and to truly and genuinely collect and tell first person perspectives of how these disorders work, how they affect people who have them, and truly show them in a personal light. the purpose is to include the medical and professional perspective of criterions, checklists, and other such information, but be focused on the personal perspective, how the disorder makes you feel, how it affects you life, how it affects your mind, how it makes think, and what you feel instead of just being "you will have X amount of these symptoms and this and this for this disorder" it's designed to explain how the disorder works, go far deeper than just some list of criterion.

we're trying to make people stop seeing disorders as just continual marks of damage, or marks of who's good and bad, stop the demonization and pitying treatment that's condescending and comes with some disorders, and stop making people fear others, truly show that these disorders are just aspects of people, who they are, and that the person is not defined by them, while also acknowledging struggles, so that people with no disorders can understand people who have them, and truly get it, and know how to respect and treat people with them with the goal of promoting understanding, connection, caring, compassion, and empathy.

we aim to change the narrative on disorders through a personal connection with the reader, whether that be someone without the disorders being spoken to as if they have it so they can understand how to be spoken to, or the people with the disorders feeling as if they are being directly spoken to, and making them feel seen, and heard, and understood, it's why these sites are designed to say "you" and "your" instead of "they're" and "their" it's designed to be personal, direct, and friendly, typed and worded from people with these disorders who know how to word it in a way that connects with the person reading, more personal, and direct than any other website or project, to give a first person connection

we aim to be an unlicensed or unprofessional telling of disorders, and that lack of professionalism is the point, because we aim to be an unprofessional source, and instead be a personal one, one that connects with you on a personal level to explain everything about these disorders at a quality and depth of information that is equivalent or better than professional sources while trying to retain validity as we see fit, as the people with these disorders see fit, and see to be true from personal perspective, and include things that professional and official sources can't, or won't include due to the fact that these things aren't entirely agreed upon, or due to regulations, now, while these things will be included, they may still be marked as unofficial, or "only in some cases", but they will still be included as, again, the goal is to be personal, and without including all of these things that people with these disorders may or do feel, that personal connection is incomplete from the source to the reader.

in short:

this source is unofficial, and unprofessional because the goal is to be as personal, and genuine as you will find anywhere on the internet, from the people who have these disorders, and live with them, day in, day out, and to truly show them in a personal light that allows you to connect with the people who have these disorders on a deeper level due to understanding these disorders more personally than anywhere else will explain to you
